⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Goodreads 5.0

It is a great fantasy graphic novel and everything an 11 year old looks for - the special powers, the fire, how the characters were illustrated. There was an element of suspense that kept my boy reading, which is a big deal given that he is dyslexic. On to volume 2…. ~Beanie

My son is going into fifth grade and has struggled to read well though his comprehension is above grade level. We have found graphic novels help hold his interest. This one is definitely a win. He had difficulty putting it down!

Great illustrations!

The illustrations are wonderful. The story is way too long though for what it is. It could have been about half as long and as is, was too repetitive, and thus got boring. Had it been half as long, it would have been perfect.

A new morsel from Kickstarter!

Once again, another morsel that I got from Kickstarter! The story was unique and the art was beautiful! The characters were believable and felt real, especially the main character. As a kid, she was portrayed well and with depth. There was no mistaking that she was a youngster! I especially love the mannamongs and their designs! So gorgeous! I look forward to the next volume!

Good book for anyone into Pokemon and Yokai Watch

I bought this book a few weeks after its released since the cover design look great, but the main plot of the book didn't disappoint me.To not spoil too much about the book, the plot involves a rouge spirit who starts hanging around a girl making her sink and won't leave her alone, and the first book involves the girl wanting to get rid of him. The problem is that the girl is the only one who can see the spirits (expect for a man she meets later one), and whenever she tells her mom what's going on, she won't believe her. After reading it, the ending to the book with new characters introduced was a great cliffhanger going into the next book, and I can't wait to see how the series end in the future. It does remind me a little of if Pokemon, Yokai Watch, and Sonic The Hedgehog did a crossover in a wired way, and I look forward to seeing what book 2 brings. In summary, this series is a great read for both children and the adults who are children at heart like me.

This was a well illustrated, interesting start to the series that follows a young girl who gets caught in a fantasy world with blurred good vs evil lines. The book is well narrated and is a good comic for kids.

An interesting take on a children's experience of the world.

I find reading children's book/books made for kids helpful and refreshing. I feel like they usually remind me of lessons that it seems like I have forgotten or just maybe not tried applying to a current situation I am struggling with at that time. The Mannamong is not an exception! I think that the messages about seeing through emotion and letting things not stress you out too much so you can investigate something's truth/objective facts is very powerful. It is hard to see Kali, her mom, and Tanto go through these heart-string-tugging things, though. It certainly leads me to wanting to read more. I think I cannot give the Mannamong a full rating until I read the whole story. The first book by itself is pretty slow. The coloring is beautiful. The characters mostly have pretty, detailed clothes and they seemingly have thoughtfully spun stories for their backgrounds. Their personalities also seem solidly followed and written, like real people's.
